Serving the Northshore Since 1950
Baldwin Motors was founded in Covington in 1950 by Lawrence "Chink" Baldwin with a simple philosophy: take care of people, conduct business with integrity and help customers find the right vehicle for their needs.
Three generations later, Baldwin Motors remains family-owned and continues to serve drivers throughout Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville, Slidell, Hammond and surrounding Southeast Louisiana communities.
The vehicles, technology and automotive industry have changed dramatically over the decades, but the values behind the Baldwin name have remained the same.
74 Years with Lincoln
For 74 years, Baldwin Motors proudly represented the Lincoln brand, making Lincoln an important part of our dealership's history from nearly the beginning of the business through 2024.
Over those decades, generations of Northshore drivers trusted Baldwin Motors for Lincoln sales, service and ownership support. That long relationship helped establish the Baldwin name as one of the area's enduring automotive businesses.
Although our Lincoln franchise chapter has concluded, it remains a proud part of our history and the foundation that helped shape the dealership we are today.

1950 — Lawrence "Chink" Baldwin
Lawrence Baldwin founded Baldwin Motors in Covington with a commitment to treating customers fairly and building relationships that extended beyond a single vehicle purchase.
The Second Generation — John Baldwin
John Baldwin continued and expanded the family business while preserving the customer-first philosophy established by his father. One phrase became closely associated with the Baldwin approach: "We're here to help you buy a car, not sell you a car."
Today — The Third Generation
The third generation of the Baldwin family continues that legacy, investing in the dealership, its employees and the Northshore community while carrying Baldwin Motors into its next chapter.

More Than a Dealership
Covington isn't simply where Baldwin Motors does business. It's our home.
Giving back has been part of the Baldwin family's story for generations. In 2002, John Baldwin and fellow Rotary Club of Covington member Craig Babylon helped launch Feeding the Needy after learning that many local children and families could face food insecurity during the Christmas school break.
What began as an effort to provide holiday meals for approximately 60 families has grown into a major community initiative serving thousands of Northshore families each year. Volunteers, local organizations, schools, churches and the Northshore Food Bank work together to provide families with Christmas meal packages and food for the holiday season.
That spirit of service continues today through Baldwin Motors and Baldwin Subaru. Over the years, our dealership has supported local schools, nonprofit organizations, animal-welfare programs, environmental initiatives, healthcare organizations and families throughout the Northshore.
Through the Subaru Love Promise and Baldwin's own community initiatives, we continue to invest time and resources into organizations doing meaningful work throughout Southeast Louisiana.
